What is NESPA,
APSP Affiliate?
NESPA is the Northeast Affiliate of the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals
(APSP) formerly known as NSPI, a worldwide professional trade association. NESPA,
founded in 1958, represents the pool and spa industry in the Northeast and
serves APSP members through education, promotion and representation. NESPA
consist of five chapters, Capital, CONSPA, Long Island, Metro NY-NJ and
PennJersey. Members include service companies, builders/installer, distributors,
retail stores, manufacturer's agents, manufacturers, independent pool and spa
service companies and sub-contractors.
What are the chapters in NESPA, APSP Affiliate?
NESPA consist of five chapters; Capital covering upstate NY, Connecticut Chapter
covering the entire state of Connecticut, Long Island covering Long Island,
Metro NY-NJ covering Southern New York and Northern Jersey and Penn-Jersey
covering Eastern Pennsylvania and Southern Jersey.

What's the difference between APSP and NESPA, APSP Affiliate?
NESPA, APSP Affiliate membership is local, covering NJ, NY, PA and CT. All
membership dues and programs are done locally. NESPA, APSP Affiliate is
responsible for all swimming pool & spa/hot tub issues, questions and
concerns regarding the industry.
What prerequisites are there to become a member of LIPSA Affiliate?
The only prerequisite is that your company has to be in business and in good
standing for at least one year.

Can non-members take part in LIPSA Affiliate activities?
Yes and No. Yes, non-members can participate in our Professional Training
Institute but must pay 50% more in class fees. Yes, non-members attend and
exhibit at the Atlantic City Pool & Spa Show and must pay increased
non-member fees for ticketed seminars. No, non-members can not participate in
NESPA's Annual Design Awards Competition, NESPA's Annual Golf Outing, scholarship
programs and special chapter outings. Non-members will not be able to access our
member only website section, post free job postings using our job web site www.pooltechnician.com.
What direct benefits do members receive?
Education
As a member of LIPSA/NESPA, APSP Affiliate you can participate at special member
discounted prices in our Education and Professional Development programs. We
present a wide variety of educational opportunities that include seminars at the
Atlantic City Pool & Spa Show, The Professional Training Institute which
provides hands-on-training courses in NESPA's Morganville facility and APSP
Certification courses. Some programs lead to the CSP (Certified Service
Professional) and the CBP (Certified Building Professional), designations the
participants can use to tell the world about their high level of professional
competence.
Technical Information and Standards
APSP has worked for decades to produce the most up to date, comprehensive
technical standards for all types of pools and hot tubs all of which are
approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). LIPSA/NESPA serves
as an instant response source of technical, code and standard information for
members who have concerns regarding their building, installing and service
activities. Legislative/Regulatory Representation and Advocacy
LIPSA/NESPA is the voice for pool and spa professionals in Long Island. NSPI is
your voice in Washington DC. We provide you with up-to-date information on
regulations governing your business, and monitor the latest legislative
initiatives that impact the pool and spa industry. We investigate member
problems at local and state levels and assist with regulation and code issues.
Chapter Meetings
Held in convenient locations across our region, these events provide
opportunities for education, networking, and the cultivation of leadership
skills in chapter members. Networking opportunities prevail at holiday parties,
social events and golf outings
Atlantic City Pool & Spa Show
Created by NESPA in 1982, the Atlantic City Pool & Spa Show has grown into
the industry's largest, most productive regional trade show. The Show offers
members an enormous selection of business and technical education, the ability
to interface with professionals from over 400 exhibiting companies and the
opportunity to network with over 8,000 industry peers.

Can I, as a consumer, call LIPSA and request a referral for the best
pool/spa service company or pool/spa builder in my area?
LIPSA cannot single out a service company or builder in your area as the best.
What we can do, however, is provide you with a list of all service and builders
in your area. They will all be LIPSA/NESPA, APSP Affiliate members which insures
that you will get quality no matter which company you choose.
